Review: Infamous (Chronicles of Nick #3)

Infamous (Chronicles of Nick #3) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Publication Date: March 13, 2012
Genre: YA Fantasy
Pages: 468

Summary

Go to school. Get good grades. Stay out of trouble. That’s the mandate for most kids. But Nick Gautier isn’t the average teenager. He’s a boy with a destiny not even he fully understands. And his first mandate is to stay alive while everyone, even his own father, tries to kill him.

He’s learned to annihilate zombies and raise the dead, divination and clairvoyance, so why is learning to drive such a difficulty? But that isn’t the primary skill he has to master. Survival is.

And in order to survive, his next lesson makes all the others pale in comparison. He is on the brink of becoming either the greatest hero mankind has ever known.

Or he’ll be the one who ends the world. With enemies new and old gathering forces, he will have to call on every part of himself to fight or he’ll lose everyone he cares about.

Even himself.

I love the series. I just love it. I read the second one, Invincible, around the time it came out, so I've been waiting a long time to get my hands on this one.

It wasn't every day you learned that you were the son of a ferocious demon and that your destiny was to end the world.

The prologue starts a few moments after the second one. Chapter One starts a few months after that. You get most of the same characters that were in the first two. You also get a few new characters, including a  brief appearance by Nick's grandparents. You learn more about Kody, Caleb, Adrian, and Acheron. You even get a glimpse of Artemis.
There is a lot of fighting and action, as there is in the first two. You get to see Nick in his demon form. Which is kinda cool. The author adds a few more layers of the story.

Okay, so spoiler alert. So if you don't want to read it, just skip the next paragraph.

In the book, Nick gets arrested for rape and theft. He gets cleared of the rape, but not there's no mention of the theft. So, I'm not sure if he gets cleared or not. Or if the author just forgot about it.

The worst part is that I have to wait a year for the next one, Inferno. And I'm not very good at waiting.
I love this series. I love the characters. And I love the world Sherrilyn Kenyon created, and I can't wait to get back into it.
