~Summary~

Jet is a Nix, the daughter of an Enchantress who went outside her bloodlines. No one helps a Nix, and even though her father is in deep trouble with Dei Lucrii, a Dark Enchanter who paid her family an extraordinary sum to make a passion potion, Jet has no way to fix the powerful spell that killed her mother.

But someone is watching her. A very handsome someone whose face appears in a pewter bowl her mother always kept close by.

Could the boy be the secret to avoiding the curse of the Nix? Or is he the sort of distraction Jet REALLY can’t afford at a time like this?

Passion Potion is a paranormal new adult romance from the author of the romantic comedy hit Heteroflexibility

~My Thoughts~

*Received a copy from the author in exchange for my honest opinion*
We get maybe one chapter of calmness, where we sorta get to know the main gal Jet before we are shoved face first into the action. I maybe may have enjoyed more of the fast pace this book is written in if I knew more about the character and her life, if I had more of a connection to her. But sadly we aren't granted that connection so for me throughout this book it all just felt off.
In the second chapter, Jets father tells her her mother was a witch, an enchanter. An enchanter that was working on a very expensive potion that was being made for a very bad dude. Now her father is going to be in debt soon if this potion doesn't get made for that guy because her mother is no longer with them, so he hopes his daughter will be able to create the potion her mother wasn't able to finish. The reason why Jets mother couldn't finish it because something went wrong and her attempt at the potion had killed her. So there is that mystery Jet will have to figure out. She'll also have to figure if it was by accident or someone killed her intentionally.....dun, dun, dun!
The mystery part of the story was an interesting ride but one that came into pieces nicely, too nicely to the part where it kinda just doesn't feel right to me. I don't really know how to explain it. Maybe it just feels wrapped up nicely cause this storyline was very quick and fast paced. There was never a dull moment in this book and that's always good, right?
Another part of this book was her finding her match as they call them in their world, it's a soul mate in ours. She found hers in a matter of chapters too. Like third or fourth, I can't remember when or which but I know it happened just as quickly as the rest of the story. Yes, they were hot and steamy and who doesn't like to read those scenes once in a while but they truly weren't able to develop a true connection. The only great connection I saw was their lips on top of the others. But as a reader I wasn't able to feel that real connection. I felt a fake one and it felt like the only reason why they were so hot and heavy was because of magic. Because their eyes were the perfect match for each other (you'll understand the eyes part when you pick up this book haha).
Overall I did enjoy it. It was a fun, light, fast, easy read and ever chapter I said would be my last was truly never my last so this book does hook you in and stays with you after you’ve finished weeks ago. There were some great twist and turns. I did love that Mary incorporated part of Alice in Wonderland in this book but that only comes forth when Jet gets sent to this certain dimension. I also do like how much her father is actually in this book and helping her out in this new world she's now in. You don't see a lot of parents in the character’s lives so that was a nice change to read. All I gotta say is there sure is a lot of passion in this book haha.

Gives you a good haunting

  1. I'm with you. I need to feel a connection to the charcters before I can experience any of the emotional impact later on. I have to care about what happens to them first. I still may read this one.
